Date: 20th March
In the 800th anniversary year of Magna Carta, two former chancellors –Helena Kennedy QC and Jon Snow – will return to join Oxford Brookes’ present chancellor, Shami Chakrabarti CBE in discussion. Shami will begin by exploring why our fundamental rights and freedoms are indispensable and the unprecedented pressures those rights are under today.
Drawing on her own work in high-profile campaigns, from privacy laws to anti-terror legislation, she will show the threats to our democratic institutions and why our rights are paramount in upholding democracy.
